MUSCATINE, Iowa, April 4, 2016 – The Muscatine RAGBRAI XLIV Committee has chosen Dennis Palmer’s theme Muscle Down to Mussel Town as the winner of the Theme Contest. The committee received 84 submissions and was tasked with narrowing down their top choices before making the final selection.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the contest. With such a wide array of themes to choose from, the choice was difficult. Muscle Down to Mussel Town incorporates the physical aspect of the ride paired with Muscatine’s unique history as the former “Pearl Button Capital of the World.”
“We were thrilled to have received so many theme submissions,” said Janet Morrow, RAGBRAI Muscatine Project Lead. “It’s great to see our community getting involved in this annual state-wide event that will show off our beautiful riverfront and community to 15,000 or more national and international visitors on July 30th.”
Muscatine was selected as the ending town for this year’s RAGBRAI, with riders to arrive on Saturday, July 30 to finish their week-long excursion across Iowa with the traditional dipping of their tires into the Mississippi River.
